Our Services
Newark Youth One Stop Career Center’s (NYOSCC) youth programs provide a wide range of services designed to increase youth and young adults' access to career pathways and leadership skills. We serve 5,000- 7,000 youth between the ages of 14-24 per year. Our services include: education support, employment counseling, leadership development, supportive services, work experiences, and referrals to outside agencies for training. Interested youth work with NYOSCC counselors to determine eligibility, provide counseling and placement for the following programs.

Vocational Trade Services
Vocational education and training are classroom training combined with hands-on training, providing youth with a complete understanding of concepts in their field and how to carry out the duties of their trade. We offer a path that imparts the skills and knowledge needed to work in a given occupation through our partner schools.

Transitional Programs
The Transitional program aims to provide educational opportunities, such as post-secondary training/ vocational education and job attainment services to high school seniors looking to jumpstart their careers. Youth are engaged in soft skills training to help transition to self-sufficient living. Apply here.

Financial Education/Literacy
Let's talk Money! Financial Literacy provides youth information on the resources and tools needed to build a financially fit future. Our curriculum is designed to enable based practices that support participants in learning how to effectively manage spending, credit, and debt, including student loans, initiate checking and savings accounts at banks, and make informed financial decisions. Career Pathways Program
The Career Pathways program exposes and prepares enrolled CTE students for careers in high labor market demand occupation. Over the course of eight months, youth participate in occupational training, postsecondary education, career and academic advising, and supportive services to help advance and market individuals within a specific occupation or occupational cluster.

Re-Engagement Program
The re-engagement program helps court-involved, out-of-school and unemployed youth, ages 16 to 24, get back on the path to self-sufficiency through the development of job skills and career pathway planning. Summer Youth Employment (SYEP)
The Newark Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) is a six-week summer experience that offers youth ages 14-24 the opportunity to gain exposure to the world of work, and develop important skills focused on work readiness, leadership development and financial literacy. SYEP’s mission is to contribute to the development of Newark's next generation of leaders by helping them understand what is possible, and envision a future of personal and professional success. Work Readiness Workshops
The workplace readiness (soft skills) workshops are a comprehensive 120-hour curriculum offered throughout the school year to help Newark residents enter the workforce with a foundation of skills that apply across a wide range of positions.
Workshops include: Resume & Cover Letter Writing, Mock Interviews, Communications, Time Management, Job Search Basics & Essentials.

Mentor in Training
The mentoring program is designed to facilitate continual learning and development to Juniors and Seniors that have 2.5 GPA and are interested in a career in leadership and human services.
Training includes: Networking, Marketing & Advertisement, Coaching, Accountability.
